You do not need a big budget to have a great week in the west. Here are ten local favourites. Accessibility features change, so check ahead for your specific needs.

  • Werribee Park and Mansion: wide paths, gardens and history, with accessible parking and toilets
  • Werribee Open Range Zoo: the safari bus makes it one of the most wheelchair friendly animal experiences in Victoria
  • Point Cook Coastal Park: flat trails, birdlife and sea air without the city crowds
  • Altona Beach and foreshore: a gentle esplanade, beach matting in season, and good coffee nearby
  • Williamstown foreshore: ferry views, fish and chips and level paths along the water
  • AquaPulse in Hoppers Crossing: pools with ramp and hoist access plus quieter session times
  • Your local library: Point Cook, Werribee, Altona and Sunshine libraries run free programs, sensory friendly sessions and warm spaces
  • Brimbank Park: river loops, picnic shelters and accessible paths under the river red gums
  • All abilities sport: local clubs across Wyndham and Hobsons Bay run inclusive cricket, footy, basketball and gymnastics programs
  • Community hubs and markets: from Laverton Community Hub to local farmers markets, free events run all year

Most of these pair perfectly with community participation funding. Bring a support worker, bring a mate, or use the outing to practise travel training. The west has more on offer than people think, and most of it costs little or nothing.

Want a friendly support worker to join you at any of these spots? We are local and we know the way. Explore our community participation supports or get in touch.
