The NDIA has licensed version 6 of the tool. It was developed in Australia and looks at the support a person actually needs in daily life, rather than only measuring what a person cannot do. Assessments are designed to be done with you, not to you.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2>When it starts\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>I-CAN sits inside new framework planning, which begins from 1 April 2027. The start date was delayed from mid 2026 to allow more testing and consultation.
